Daily Freewrite - The Day They Came
The day they came was one marred by scars that will last for generations. The marks that they left behind will endure through the ages. They - in their absurd sense of entitlement - landed their ships down, and began plundering what they could from us. Their planet had died out and so they thought the forceful colonization of our world would save them. At first we welcomed them with open arms and treated them with hospitality aligned with the customs of our people. But in their greed, they began razing our forests to the ground, reducing our quarries to rubble, mining our ore out, and drinking our seas dry. All in the name of "helping" our people they committed these atrocities. They enslaved my sons and daughters for labor and serving, and slaughtered my brothers and sisters to instill fear. They repaid our outstretched hand with an iron fist. I now know what happened to their world. They were the ones who destroyed their world, and they were the ones now destroying ours. We will rise up, my brothers. We must, if future generations are to live in peace. We will drive the humans out.
